BLACK DOG INN
Cozy and clean room and bath. Quaint decor with colorful quilts on king size bed and day bed. Breakfast served in a lovely dining room overlooking garden. Very gracious hosts. I'd love to bring my family here.
I loved the Black Dog Inn. It is very close to Indiana Beach but is a very cozy and quaint family ran bed and breakfast. The owners live in the house and yes there is a tBlack Dog that is their family pet. The rooms were very large and decorated beautifully. The bathroom in our room was very updated and wonderful. The owners offer a hot, cooked breakfast each morning for their guests. Its like being in your home away from home. I highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anybody staying near Indiana Beach.
The whole Inn feels warm and inviting. The hosts are very welcoming. Guest rooms are kept clean and in great condition with very nice bathrooms. Breakfast in the lovely pine dining area was wonderful with freshly brewed coffee and fresh fruits. We felt relaxed and refreshed after our stay. Black Dog Inn made for a memorable family weekend within walking distance to Indiana Beach!
Great place. Wonderful hosts! Room was clean and dust free. Beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms clean and sanitary breakfast was not extensive but delicious and filling. Outside grounds are pretty and well-manicured. We were sorry to hear that bo is deceased.
This was our third time to stay here and I just can not say enough about the place. Tom and Vicki are the consummate hosts. They are always available and never intrusive. We had a family reunion here once, it was wonderful and getting served a great breakfast every morning just made it even better. The swing on the front porch, I could spend hours there just relaxing. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in the area.
Tom and Vicki were, hands down, the most gracious of hosts. Bo is an awesome addition to the Inn. The room was comfortable, clean, and very comfortable. If you are looking for a very reasonable, clean, cozy place to stay while in north central Indiana, you must call them to reserve your space. You will NOT regret it.
We had a weekend visit over July 4th weekend with our 15 yr old daughter. We needed to stay close to Lafayette, so I researched the Lake Shafer area and found this wonderful place. You must call to reserve as it is a very mom and pop establishment, but it was well worth it. We had a lovely spacious room on the 2nd floor with a king sized bed and a day bed. Walking distance to the lake and the local marina, we rented a ski boat on our 1st morning there. Lake Shafer boat rentals runs a morning special - buy 2 hrs rental, get the 3rd free. That evening we enjoyed Indiana Beach. It is not a big or fancy amusement park, but certainly fun and there are some good eateries there. The Black Dog Inn is very nice and is an oasis in the area - surrounded by large shade trees and a beautiful lawn. The breakfasts are fabulous. We had a breakfast casserole one morning and biscuits and gravy another. Lots of other assorted items available for self-serve. Highly recommend this place. We hope to return
Our family of 5 had a wonderful long weekend at the Black Dog Inn. This may sound like a broker record, because all reviews read the same...friendly, attentive owners; very clean rooms, private bathrooms; refrigerator to store drinks, etc.; good breakfast meal; and Bo, the friendly dog! The owners were pleasant and generously offered an alternate room arrangement upon our arrival. They shared a recommendation for a great local restaurant which we really enjoyed. I highly recommend selecting the Black Dog Inn...we had a great experience!
As I arrived at the Black Dog Inn, the Innkeepers Bo, Tom and Vickie greeted me at the door by name. I asked to see the room and quickly felt comfortable. I'm extremely cautious traveling alone and overnight accommodations. Bo (Black Dog) was very friendly and I knew immediately this was the place for me. My room was extremely clean, quaint and comfortable. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast with Tom and Vickie. Everything was tastefully quaint and special. Thank you for a warm cozy night.
I definitely recommend this inn and look forward to visiting again when I'm in the Monticello area.
I can't say enough about this beautiful 1887 historic home & bed and breakfast! The Black Dog Inn was beyond our expectations. We stayed in room #4 (Jake's Room) with a king size bed and private attached bathroom. The room was very spacious, there was a table, couch, love seat, TV, all the amenities to make it feel like home! The bathroom and room were both very clean and well kept. We also made use of the common area, where there was a microwave and fridge. The owners were great hosts, Tom, Vicki, and of course, the black dog, Bo! They made it seem like the place was ours, they gave us plenty of space and welcomed us into their home. Bo (the black dog) was extremely friendly and loving. The house is an amazing place to relax, unwind, and indulge in some beautiful history. . I know we can't wait for our next visit and to stay at the Black Dog Inn!
What a charming inn! We loved everything about it! We felt like we were home, everything was very clean and cozy. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this place over any others in the area, pricing was much less than the..
Tom & Vicki (Including their Black Lab Bo) our hosts always make our stay extra special.
Beautifully furnished rooms taking you back in time with all the modern conveniences.
Conveniently located to the Indiana Beach Resort, many restaurants, pubs and golf and water activities, yet quiet & relaxing for a good night sleep waking up to fresh coffee and a homemade breakfast.
This is the place to stay when in Monticello
Tom and Vicki instantly make you feel welcome. My family and I had a great stay at The Black Dog Inn. I would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone. We look forward to staying here on our next visit to Indiana Beach!
Great B&B in Monticello. Well appointed, large and super clean rooms. Pleasant and friendly innkeepers. Reasonable prices for a Purdue football weekend. Small kitchenette for early coffee, refrigerator and snack area. Includes microwave. Very children friendly. Better than a hotel. Breakfast good. Beautiful grounds, walking distance to lake and boat rental.
What a great place to stay. We arrived mid-week and virtually had the whole place to ourselves, Tom and Vicki are the perfect hosts. The inn is filled with ambiance form the antique furnishings to the collection of personal art. Ask Tom to show you his personally carved decoys and duck calls. But hurry because the inn will close for the winter in early October. Your next chance won't be until spring.
